In the education world, it seems like everybody is talking about Google Classroom. If you have not jumped on the Google Classroom band wagon, you definitely need to. Google Classroom has so many benefits for teachers and students. Did I mention that it is FREE!

If you are still asking yourself "why," here are five reasons why you should get started using Google Classroom today!

Google Classroom provides an easy and effective way for students and teachers to communicate with each other. Parents can even be added to the classroom too! Teachers and students can send emails, post to the classroom stream, post public and private comments, and provide feedback on assignments. Teachers can turn off any of these features for the whole class or for individual students if needed.

Google Classroom is a great tool for differentiation. If you have students working at different levels, Google Classroom can help differentiate your activities and assignments. Teachers can set up different classrooms for different students or assign only specific assignments to specific students. Google Classroom is a great tool that provides a way for teachers to ensure that every student is successful.

Google Classroom makes it easy to track students' progress. From the student work screen, click on a student's assignment to see real-time progress as he/she works. As students are working, you can provide targeted feedback through private comments that they can respond to. This comment feature allows you to easily check for understanding and reteach if necessary! Also, you can check students' revision history to see how much work they have accomplished in class.

Google Classroom gives students access to materials anytime and anywhere. Google Classroom can be accessed from any computer or mobile device. Because all files uploaded by teachers and students are stored in a folder on Google Drive, students (and teachers) cannot use the "lost assignment/homework" excuse anymore. When a student is absent, he/she has easy access to make-up work. When a teacher is absent, he/she can easily post assignments and comments and track student progress. Did I mention there is an app for that? The Google Classroom app makes working, communicating, and grading very convenient for teachers and students.

Students are already using technology everyday. In this generation, kids either have or have access to at least one of the following: cellphone, laptop, tablet, computer, smartwatch, etc. It has been proven that technology is fascinating and engaging to students. Google Classroom can help students become and stay engaged and focused on their assignments and activities. Google Classroom (and other digital tools) allows teachers to create and present instruction and assignments that are interesting to students. When students are engaged and interested, then they become successful, active learners.
